Familiarisation of Secretariat activities for the handing over to Secretary General designate commenced. IMO Legal Committee 99th meeting held in London 16th 20th April 2012 IFSMA supported the ITF (SRI) intervention on abandonment of seafarers The preservation of evidence and criminalisation was discussed. Intervention made to make sure that IFSMA is part of any working groups. It has been agreed that Charles Boyle will lead on this matter supported by the IFSMA Secretary General. Strong debate on the cost of oil pollution from bunker spills and the need to raise the limitation of owners liability. ASI 6th Maritime risk and Safety Management Conference Paper presented on STCW 2010 and MLC 2006 by John Dickie. In following discussions the plans for IFSMA’s Voluntary Code of Conduct for the Ship Master was well received and supported by all delegates present. April 30th First day of IMO STW sub-committee meeting In London. On the agenda are STCW ratification of model courses Position and practice for training on ECDIS (in particular type specific training) e-navigation strategy, in particular the approximate one hundred items identified in the gap analysis Working group on remit for the ISM Code Development of guidance on the Manila amendments.
